Living in the U.S. or Canada you need to make sure you have disability insurance. A lot of employers may provide it already as a benefit, but if not or you are self-employed it is essential if you fall on hard times with your health. Especially if you have a family, social security disability insurance or ssdi, provides some peace of mind depending on the financial situation you are in.
