One of the most useful peripherals you can get is a printer. I went a couple years without one and it drove me nuts. I had a really cheap inkjet printer and replacing the cartridges was expensive and annoying. Especially since I didn't use it all that often so the ink would dry out more than anything. I then switched to a monochrome laser and have been loving life. Thousands of printouts over the span of years before I run out of ink and I don't even think twice about it now. I've owned Dell and hp printers.
