My current position is working with inventory control. We have a lot of rental inventory (so we own it) moving around all the time and it is hard to keep track of. We turned to barcoding to help solve the problem and it is one of the more efficient ways to track things moving around. Armed with a barcode scanner, you can scan items as they move around and record important information surrounding them. Movement, location, age, condition, or whatever you want.
