Wow. My best month ever has just turned in.

Thoughts From My Life Traffic Stats for October 2008

October's numbers and September's numbers are in brackets.

  • Page Loads: 34,130 (30,596)
  • Unique Visitors: 23,279 (20,689)
  • Average Uniques/Day: 750 (689)
  • Lowest Uniques/Day: 573 (586)
  • Highest Uniques/Day: 835 (805)

Almost a new records in every metric and by quite a large margin. I think this goes to prove that it isn't how much new content is put up, but how much good content has already been put up. I did add some good articles last month though. Specifically my analysis on TD Rebate Rewards and TD Elite Gold Visa Cards as well as CIBC Aerogold and AeroClassic Visas.

Thoughts From My Life Revenue

Overall, my earnings for October 2008 were $309.87. That is my highest earnings ever and the first time I have cracked $300. Here is the breakdown with last month's numbers in brackets.

  • PayU2Blog: $75.00 ($17.50)
  • Adsense: $214.13 ($137.87)
  • Kontera: $20.74 ($22.91)

This is awesome, awesome results. The first time for racking $200 on Adsense as well. My Kontera has been slowly declining which is interesting. I have been tempted to pull it off and I wonder if it limits my Adsense earnings in reality. I will leave them for now though.

It has been an excellent month for traffic and revenue.

I still want to add Text Link Ads, but they keep saying my site does not receive enough traffic.

My wife and I purchased a 2004 Mazda 3 around a month ago. I have to say we have been very pleasantly surprised. It runs quite smooth and gets very reasonable gas mileage. Here are the specs and my mileage results.

Specifications
  • Year: 2004
  • Model: Mazda 3
  • Engine: 2.0L
  • Transmission: Automatic (triptonic)
  • Mileage: 50,000 mi or 80,000km
  • Highway speed: 80 miles/h or 130 km/h

Based on that I took my highway mileage going both directions to a location and found that I hit 38 mpg (6.2 L/100km) and 41 mpg (5.74 L/100km) respectively. Our city driving so far has been around 35 mpg (6.7 L/100km).

I will be slapping winter tires on soon, so I will do a comparison then as well. I also want to drive a slower speed and do a comparison.

Some Recent Comparisons

The last weekend in August of 2009 I drove from Calgary to Edmonton and back with some city driving while I was in Edmonton. I put on 567.3 km for the stretch I checked and used 36.04 litres of fuel. This is equivalent to 352.52 miles and 9.52 US gallons. That is a fuel economy of 6.35 L/100km or 37 miles per gallon. I drove around 115 km/h to 120 km/h on Highway 2.

My wife's cousing recently embarked on an around the world trip for almost a year. He purchased one of those "round the world" airline tickets and took off.

Anyhow, he is a professional photographer and quite a good writer I have found out. You should check out or subscribe to his blog, Openshaw360 if you like to follow some interesting travel commentary and see some great photos.
